Describe the sound and circumstances
Say when the noise began and whether you hear it at idle, while accelerating or over bumps. Include any recent impact or repair and the location of a visible concern if known. There is no need to identify a component yourself, and you should not get underneath an unsupported vehicle to complete an enquiry.
Bring the exact MOT wording
If the concern follows an MOT, include the test date, result category and complete finding. An exhaust-system defect and an emissions result may require different investigation. A historic entry does not prove the same problem is still present; mention work already completed after the test.
Ask what the proposed repair includes
Parts and labour vary with the vehicle and findings. Ask which section or component is proposed, whether further diagnosis is required, and what is included in the estimate. The website does not quote a universal replacement price or promise that a named part will resolve a warning light.
Plan repair and any retest separately
If the vehicle failed its MOT, discuss both the repair and the retest arrangements. An enquiry or agreed repair is not automatically a reserved retest. Raise any concern about moving the vehicle directly with the team and use the current official MOT guidance; this page cannot assess roadworthiness.
