Who you are dealing with
Turner Brothers (Holmfirth) Limited, company number 11993464, registered in England and Wales. Our workshop and registered office are at Bottoms Mill, Woodhead Road, Holmfirth, West Yorkshire, HD9 2PX. Contact info@turnerbrothers.co.uk or 01484 682288. Reception normally opens 06:30–17:00, Monday to Friday, excluding notified closures.
These terms explain our consumer workshop arrangements. Any separately agreed business or fleet terms will be identified when the work is arranged. Nothing here removes your statutory consumer rights.
A request comes before an appointment
Sending a website request does not reserve a time, confirm a price or authorise repairs. We check your vehicle, requested work and diary, then confirm arrangements with you. A contract for the work is made when you and the workshop agree its scope, price or pricing basis and arrangements. We will provide a record you can keep.
Please give accurate contact and vehicle details and tell us about symptoms, relevant previous work and any safety concern. You must be entitled to authorise the work. An online checker, vehicle picture or assistant response cannot assess whether a vehicle is safe to drive.
Punctures, air-conditioning, tyres, bulbs and wipers can be requested for the same day, subject to availability. Allow at least four working days, Monday to Friday, for other work. Staff check actual diary availability and closures. Requests before 16:00 on a working day receive a reply that day; requests from 16:00 or while the office is closed receive a reply the next working day. A reply does not itself confirm the appointment.
Prices, checks and extra work
The service pages explain current prices, included work and allocated appointment times. VAT is included where applicable; the £54.85 MOT has no VAT. The agreed quote or confirmation identifies the work for your vehicle. Appointment length is not a guaranteed collection time.
A visual puncture check is free. An actual repair costs £30 including VAT, with a 45-minute appointment, provided the tyre is suitable for repair. Replacement tyres and other work are quoted separately. Servicing is quoted for each vehicle; an MOT and service can be requested together, with the combined work and price confirmed by staff.
Diagnosis, regas, appraisal and other checks cover the scope described for that service. They do not automatically include repairs or every further investigation. If extra work, parts or time are needed, we explain the findings and additional cost and obtain your agreement before proceeding. We do not promise an instant automated servicing quote.
Arrival and collection
Your confirmed MOT time is the test time. For a 06:30 MOT, leave your vehicle during working hours on the previous working day. For later MOTs, have it on site at least 30 minutes before the test. A Monday 06:30 MOT normally needs Friday drop-off; the office confirms arrangements around closures. Class 5 MOTs and retests must be arranged by phone.
If you arrive late, please plan to collect your vehicle on a later day. The office will confirm revised arrangements. We will also contact you if findings or parts availability affect an agreed completion estimate. See appointment information and the parking guide.
Courtesy cars, collection and recovery
A courtesy car is a separate request, subject to availability and confirmation of insurance cover. The car is free with a one-off £20 insurance waiver including VAT and a £250 accident excess. No deposit is required. Drivers need a valid licence and no more than six penalty points. Turner Brothers adds no separate age restriction; the office must still confirm that the proposed driver and use are insured.
Use is local, you pay for the fuel you use, and the vehicle must be returned clean with the same fuel level. Agree collection and return with the office. Before handover, the office must explain the loan and applicable insurance conditions, including what the waiver covers. The £20 charge is not a promise that every loss or use is covered. See courtesy car information. Recovery is only available within five miles of our garage. Collection and recovery are enquiries for arrangements with staff, not an immediate dispatch service.
Payments, changes and cancellation
The website does not take payment or a deposit. Staff confirm payment arrangements for agreed work. Contact the office to change or cancel a request or appointment; do not rely on a message to Apollo as a cancellation. No fixed lateness, missed-appointment or cancellation fee is introduced by these terms.
If parts have already been ordered, a handling charge may apply after individual review. We will explain its calculation. Any charge must be fair, reflect the circumstances and applicable consumer rights, and allow for reasonable steps to reduce avoidable loss. Ordering a standard part does not automatically remove a statutory right to cancel.
Where a statutory cancellation right applies to a service contract made at a distance or away from our premises, you can cancel without giving a reason within 14 days after the day the contract is made. Tell us by a clear statement using the contact details above. Choosing an early appointment does not, by itself, waive that right.
If you want work to start within that period, we need your express request. If you then cancel, a lawful proportionate charge for work supplied may be payable. The right ends on full performance only where the required request and acknowledgement were given. Any refund due will be made without undue delay and within the applicable legal deadline, normally 14 days after you tell us, using the original payment method unless another method is agreed without a fee.
Optional cancellation form
You can email, telephone or write; using this form is not compulsory. Copy or print it and complete your own details.

If something is wrong
Work must be carried out with reasonable care and skill and, where not agreed, within a reasonable time and for a reasonable charge. If work or supplied goods are faulty or misdescribed, contact us so we can investigate and provide the remedy required by law. Tell us your reference, what happened and what outcome you are seeking. We will explain our response and the next steps.
We do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything the law does not allow us to exclude. Nothing here makes you responsible for damage caused by our failure to take reasonable care.
Our privacy notice explains use of personal information. These terms do not change work already agreed unless you agree the change; keep your quote and confirmation for the terms that apply to that visit.
