Alignment and tracking
Wheel alignment checks wheel angles against the vehicle manufacturer's specifications. You may hear it called tracking. Uneven wear or a change in steering can be a reason to have the vehicle checked, but neither identifies the cause on its own. Tell the team about any recent impact or suspension work.
Wheel balancing
Balancing addresses uneven weight distribution in the wheel and tyre assembly. An imbalance can cause vibration, sometimes at particular speeds. A vibration can have other causes too, so describe where and when you notice it instead of choosing a repair from that symptom alone.
What to include in your enquiry
Say which tyres show wear, whether the steering wheel sits off-centre and when the change began. Mention recent tyre fitting, repairs or a pothole impact. Describe what you have already observed during normal use; you do not need to make an extra journey or reproduce a concern for the form.
Agree the work before the visit
Two-wheel alignment is £78 including VAT with one hour allowed; four-wheel alignment is £132 including VAT with 90 minutes allowed. These prices do not include balancing, tyres or suspension repairs. Ask the team which assessment is appropriate and what any further work would cost. Sending a request does not reserve an appointment.
